  About 4 years ago I posted a glowing review on the ie2 corded Bose earphones. After looking for years and spending hundreds of $ on earphones like candies brand and others that never fit, I figured Id try Bose though it seemed like a lot of money for earphones. The ie2 and the styles just prior to them were so close to perfect it was amazing. Im practically never without them which is why ive bought 4 in 4 years. The only negative I felt was the quality of rubberized coating over the wires which was a little weak and always came apart where the wire attached to the jack. 4 weeks ago I was in need of a new set. The only pair best buy had close to my old style was SoundTrue Ultra in-ear. Leery that they were a little different, but not sure if Bose still had the style I had, I bought them. I've said for years that there is a point with many inventions where you reach perfection. After that point every change you make goes in the opposite direction.....which is where this style of earphones has come to. What I discovered with my first few uses was that the newly designed rubber 'cone' traps sweat in the ear. The cone also creates a small vacuum by 'plugging' the ear opening which transfers vibration caused by every bounce, every brush, every tug on the wires into you ears. This defeats the proposed purpose of the design for improving sound quality. Its like wearing an insulated foot ball helmet with people tapping on it throughout your workout . For use at work for me personally, I have to be able to hear even with my headphones in. This earphone does not allow for that as my last sets did and Im always having to take them out to converse with someone. This defeats again the purpose for having earpieces that are flexible enough that you dont need to take it out because of discomfort. It is extremely inconvenient if Im on a call with a client and need to speak to someone in the office briefly to give direction and now have to take them out to do that. The next issue is the receiver. From my first call people were telling me the could barely hear me. This has not improved. These are people I have dealt with weekly for years while using my older earphones and never had any problem. Last of all there is the new design for the wires. A hard 'T' connection dead in the middle of your chest. You can no longer move it to the side, there is no slide so that you can make it like one cord on the side of your head to keep it more concealed when appropriate. It smacks on your chest when youre running and provides 2 more wear out points for the wires because the 'T' is not flexible. Ive given it almost a month to see if it was me and if I might adjust to the new designs. My conclusion is this new headset no longer user friendly or a good quality tech purchase, especially considering the price. I think Bose for the most part has amazing products. I have Bose speakers hooked up to my pc and in my surround and love them, but this is not a good design and for a 120$ a pop...I wont be buying another pair unless I can get them to swap what I have for something that will work for me. I hope this helps both Bose and prospective customers.
